Life

White was born into a musical family. While a teenager he was playing gigs around Cork city and formed his own band at age 17. He went to London in 1971 to busk and perfect his unique style of singing and guitar accompaniment.[1]

Together with Philip King and Sonny Condell he formed the popular folk-rock/Jazz fusion group Scullion in 1974. He afterwards formed his own band, The Freddie White Band.[2]

White has been touring internationally since the 1980s, solo as well as with fellow musicians. He performs his own compositions, as well as jazz standards and interpretations of work of his favorite performers, such as Randy Newman, Tom Waits, John Hiatt and Guy Clark.[3]
